Bipartisan, not Buy-Partisan solutions

As Molly Ivins and others noted, Karl Rove's campaign appealing to fear and hatred defeated logic and reason in this battle. However, the war continues.

Over twenty years ago, Ronald Reagan combined the forces of big money and big religion in a pact to seize control of this country. They have succeeded - for now.

It is half-past time we build a new social movement to fight these goons. They've got the media, the courts, the Congress and the Presidency. All we have is reality and the American people's inherent hatred of being pushed around. Thanks to the web, this may be enough.

Bush's plan is simple: blame scapegoats for the inevitable results of his flawed plans. We need to be prepared not only to point out his failures, but to drown out the liars seeking to shoot messengers of truth.

It won't be easy. It may cost many years of heartbreak. We're going to see massive environmental damage, federal laws re-criminalizing gays, and Supreme Court decisions mandating "life begins at conception" outlawing abortion, oral contraceptives, in-vitro fertilization, and stem cell research.

Our critical task is making sure that American's short-term political memory doesn't allow El Busho and his buddies to blame excessive government regulations, a biased liberal media, and a world jealous of our "freedom" when our currency and our economy collapse.
